INTERACTION OF Q-DAS PRODUCTS WITH SAP QM

INTERACTION OF Q-DAS PRODUCTS WITH SAP QM

How to combine statistical evaluations with central business processes

22 November 2010: Stephan Sprink

The implementation of SAP serves the optimization of central business processes whereas Q-DAS products provide solutions for a comprehensive, automated observation and statistical evaluation of measurement and test processes. High flexibility is a major issue within the scope of recording and evaluating quality data. In particular, this flexibility is required in data recording environments that are close to production since the flexibility helps to guide operators through the inspection thoroughly and to detect weaknesses in the process by means of significant graphics and SPC functionalities. By connecting Q-DAS products to SAP QM, users of both systems are now provided with a complete solution to apply the two products together.

There are several solutions available for the interaction of Q-DAS products with SAP QM. Depending on the respective requirements, these solutions represent the basic conditions for the implementation of both systems. However, the different approaches for the interaction of both systems explained in the following are based on the assumption that SAP QM is the leading system and thus responsible for the design of experiments. It requires the transfer of results gained in the conducted inspection in order to ensure consistency. Moreover, the Q-DAS product O-QIS (operator quality information system) is supposed to record test data since it is an ideal program for operators due to its multitude of integrated measuring and test equipment interfaces. In addition, the evaluation shall be based on the qs-STAT evaluation strategy.

There are three approaches:

  • Approach A: data storage and evaluation with Q-DAS products
  • Approach B: data storage and evaluation with Q-DAS products and SAP-STI
  • Approach C: data storage in SAP and evaluation via SAP STI
